Photo du Jour: Gator On The Wall

Wall art, Border Cafe, Harvard SquareSeptember 20, 2009: In all of the 16 or so years of coming to the Border Cafe in Havard Square, Cambridge MA I've  fantasized about photographing all the intricate art work (and memorabilia) inside. But the restaurant has maintained a strict policy against photographs.

On a recent visit, I shared this thought with one of the bartenders. He told me, "Go ahead, take a photo. Just do it quickly before the manager comes back." So, I indulged my fantasy and snapped this shot: a mural depicting Alligator Pure Louisiana Molasses.

Photo du Jour: Beyond The Fourth Wall Performs in Harvard Square

September 12, 2009: I watched a half-dozen youths of various ages belonging to the artist's group "Beyond The Fourth Wall" perform in the pedistrian walk on Palmer Street on a rainy Saturday afternoon in Harvard Square. They were quite entertaining.

Improv in JFK Park, Cambridge MAJune 13, 2009: This unidentified "improv artist" (for lack of a better term) leads and encourages various passers-by in dancing and improv, in John Fitzgerald Park in Cambridge, MA on a sunny Saturday June afternoon.

Photo du Jour: "White Angel" in Harvard Square

White angel performer, Harvard SquareJune 6, 2009: For your viewing pleasure--this white angel/mime performs regularly in Harvard Square. Sometime's he's situated in front of the Harvard Coop; other times, I've seen him on Brattle Street. For someone who doesn't move--well, not much--he's very expressive. I've tried googling him, but haven't come up with any details as to his identity.

It's a hell of a way to make a living.

Wow. Do my eyes deceive me, or does today's Zippy comic strip feature the very first Dingburger of color? And a female, no less.
