My Books Are Now Carried in the Watertown Free Public Library!

According to the reference librarian at the Watertown Free Public Library:
 
“Thank you for donating your books. I have chosen to include The Kanawha Anomaly and Machine Feelings and Other Stories in our circulating Science Fiction collection. Titles added to our circulating collection will get the opportunity to go out. Materials in our circulating collection are subject to our collection development policy and over time we may evaluate whether the books should remain in our collection.
 
“Your other titles Helltown Chronicles, The Winship Affair, Uncontacted Frontier and The Allston Variant will be included in our Watertown Author collection. Titles in our Watertown Author collection will be retained. These books do not go out. If you would like to donate another copy of Kanawha Anomaly and/or Machine Feelings and Other Stories, we would be happy to add those titles to our Watertown Author collection as well.

Jeremiah’s Hearse

Does this hearse belong to Jeremiah, the mad undertaker of Helltown?

 

From Helltown Chronicles:

The two were interrupted by the sound of an approaching car. It was situated just on the other side of the rise in the road ahead. They couldn’t see it yet, but judging by the sound of the engine, the driver was really gunning it. The car came upon them fast. The two quickly stepped off to the side of the road. Seconds later, a long, dark vehicle with only one working headlight crested the hill. Veering off the road, it headed directly for the two fifteen-year-olds.

The hearse struck Randy head-on. The impact threw him in the air and he landed almost twenty feet away. The same collision dealt Kyle only a glancing blow.

“Wh- Wha…?” When Kyle came to he saw an old, sinister-looking man standing over him. The man smiled an evil grin, and struck Kyle on the head with a club, knocking him unconscious again.

An Inescapable Truth

I’m come to the inescapable conclusion that Caliburn Press has no intention of honoring the agreement I signed with Damnation Books in August, 2014. In fact, they’ve been in breach of contract for some time. On advice of my attorney, I notified Caliburn this week that I am exercising my right to cancel the agreement. The good news is: another publisher had indicated a willingness to pick up the book! More info to come.

Forward Motion

There’s a lot of “forward motion” happening right now with my new novel, “Helltown Chronicles.” Dan, my editor, has completed his first round of edits, and I’m almost finished with my responses. He’s made excellent edits that really add to the quality of the storytelling and that tighten up the plot and dialogue. I’m pleased. Eternal Press will most certainly have my novel on book shelves by year end–hopefully, even sooner.

Helltown Synopsis

Here is a synopsis for my new book “Helltown Chronicles”:

In the 1970s, the town of Boston Mills, Ohio was turned into a ghost town practically overnight when the U.S. Department of Interior seized lands and condemned homes and properties in order to expand the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. In the years since, a multitude of mysterious tales and ghost stories have sprung forth concerning the macabre remains, known as “Helltown.”

Newspaper reporters Jerry Wolanski, from Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Susan Wong, of Toronto, Ontario, are both sent to Akron, Ohio by their respective editors, tasked with writing “fluff” Halloween pieces about Helltown. They happen to meet under bizarre circumstances in a cemetery, and decide to join forces. Soon they find themselves experiencing first-hand Helltown’s reputation for horror, intrigue, and the supernatural.

Along the way, Jerry and Susan meet up with a pair up of unlikely allies: Astarte, a New Age bookstore proprietor who practices witchcraft, and her ex-husband, Frank, a retired police detective turned private eye. With Astarte and Frank’s assistance, the reporters chronicle Helltown’s sagas and–in the process–they must destroy a malevolent force that they’ve unwittingly unleashed before it destroys them.
